Computer Class
Second Grade
In second grade, students come the computer lab once every other cycle. During computer class, students continue to learn how to use Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Students continue to learn computer programming using code.org and Osmo Coding Jam. They also continue to practice their typing skills using Typing Agent and their google accounts. |
Third Grade
In third grade, students to come to the computer lab twice a cycle. During these classes, students practice using their google accounts to complete school assignments. They will use docs, sheets, and slides throughout the year. Third graders continue to learn computer programming by using Scratch Jr, Code.org, and Osmo Coding Awbie. |
Fourth Grade
In fourth grade, students come to the computer lab twice a cycle. In 4th grade, we continue to increase our ability to use Docs, Sheets, and Slides. We continue to increase our understanding of computer science and computer programming. Fourth grade students explore Scratch, code.org, and the Dash and Dot robots. They even get a chance to use the 3D printer! |
Fifth Grade
In fifth grade, students come to the computer lab once a cycle for computer class. Their teachers also use the chromebooks all the time in the classroom. Fifth grade students continue to work on their computer programming skills using Scratch, code.org, and Dash and Dot.The majority of class time for the last third of the year is used to assist them in their Independent Learning Projects (ILPs). While working on their ILPs, they use the computer to assist in their research, to type their papers, to create graphs for their surveys, to create mind maps to outline their research, along with many other pieces. It is very exciting to see them realize how technology can help them with their schoolwork! |
